LBSU HEADS TO SAN DIEGO TO FACE THE TRITONS: No. 10 Long Beach State travels south to face No. 11 UC San Diego a non-conference match at the Canyonview Pool in La Jolla, Calif. at 6 p.m. The 49ers (16-3) lead the head-to-head series against the Tritons 49-17 with the most recent being a 9-8 LBSU win in overtime

The 49ers enter Friday's match with a four-game winning streak, after sweeping their opponents at the Gary Troyer Tournament, last weekend. The Tritons (7-5) had last weekend off after going 2-2 at the SoCal Tournament.

Junior Dan Matulis leads the 49ers with 50 goals including 16 games in which he scored multiple goals. Matulis enters Friday's game with a 12-game scoring streak.

49ERS TAKE HOME FOUR WINS AT GARY TROYER TOURNAMENT: Long Beach State wrapped up its tournament schedule going undefeated at the Gary Troyer Tournament thanks to Nick Rascon who scored the game-winning goal with 10 seconds remaining in its final game of the tournament.

The 49ers defeated Harvard 12-5 and Fresno Pacific 23-4 Friday to kick off the tournament, before beating La Verne 18-3 and Cal Baptist 9-8 on Saturday.

Senior Spencer White led LBSU with nine goals in the tournament, as well as the tying goal against Cal Baptist that set the stage for Rascon's winning goal. Junior Dan Matulis chipped in with seven goals, while Rascon found the back of net six times in the two-day tournament.

Long Beach State's 23 goals vs. Fresno Pacific tied for the third-highest goals scored total in a game in school history.

49ERS RANK AMONG MPSF LEADERS: Three 49ers are ranked in the top 10 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in individual statistical categories.

Junior Dan Matulis and senior Spencer White rank among the league leaders in scoring. Matulis is sixth with a 2.63 goals per game average, while leading LBSU with 50 goals. White is 10th in the league with a 2.37 goals per game average with 45 goals.

Sophomore Balint Meszaros is fourth in saves with 11.03 saves per game and is sixth with a 7.55 goals against average. He has 171 saves heading into the UC San Diego game.

No. 10 Long Beach State is tied with No. 2 UC Santa Barbara for third in team goals averaging 14 goals per game. The 49er defense is ranked fourth in the MPSF allowing just 7.00 goals per game.
