LONG BEACH STATE PUTS STREAK ON LINE: The 49ers play UC San Diego on Wednesday, placing their three-game winning streak over the Tritons on the line. They are looking to rebound from consecutive losses against USC and Cal, currently the top two teams in the MPSF.

LONG BEACH STATE TO PLAY CONCORDIA IRVINE: The 49ers will play the Concordia Irvine Eagles this Saturday for the first matchup between the two clubs. Concordia Irvine competes in the NAIA, yet plays non-conference opponents similar to those that LBSU competes against.

49ERS RANKED 14TH IN CWPA COACHES POLL: Long Beach State is listed in the Top 20 Coaches Poll for the week of October 3. The entire MPSF conference is ranked in the top 14 position of the poll. Stanford jumped from fourth to first in this week's rankings.

PETROVIC CRACKS TOP 25 IN CAREER GOALS: Senior Alexandar Petrovic entered the top 25 in career goals at Long Beach State when he ran his total to 100 at the SoCal Tournament. He is tied with his 2009 season total of 35. Petrovic is now ranked 23rd all time in scoring at Long Beach State.

PETROVIC THIRD IN GOALS IN MPSF: Alexandar Petrovic is the third leading goal scorer in the MPSF with 35 goals. He trails league leader Ivan Rackov (California) who has 52 goals and Mitch Wise (UCI) who has scored 49 goals.

LBSU DROPS FIRST MPSF MATCH: The 49ers fell to the USC Trojans 14-3 last week in their MPSF opener. Brian Schiefer, Milos Vrzic, and Hayden Leach scored the three goals for Long Beach State.

LONG BEACH STATE FALLS TO CAL IN FIRST HOME MATCH: The 49ers were beaten by No. 2 Cal 14-6 on Saturday. Dan Matulis and Nick Rascon notched two goals each for LBSU, while Robert Robinson and Devin Mefford added a goal apiece.

 

 

LONG BEACH STATE FINISHES SOCAL TOURNAMENT WITH TWO WINS: The 49ers completed the tournament on a two game win streak with a 13-7 victory over Pomona Pitzer and a 10-6 win against Air Force. Freshman goalkeeper John Mroch totaled 18 saves in his first career games.

49ERS 11-3 RECORD IS BEST START SINCE 2007: It was the best start for the program's recent history, since the 2007 squad opened the season 12-4. Long Beach State has already eclipsed the win total of the last two seasons. Their 11 total wins is on pace to break the 2008 win total of 14.
