Men's Water Polo Takes International Stage

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State water polo will be taking the international stage this summer as senior Duncan Lynde and junior Austin Stevenson compete with team USA and junior Thomas Freeman and Tori Morrisey will compete with Australia at the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan August 18-30.

Freeman spent the bulk of the season as the team's starting goalie, while Lynde had a successful junior season finishing with 16 goals and two assists. Stevenson joins the team after posting 23 goals while dishing out six assists.

On the women's side, Morrissey finished second in goals scored for the Beach with 27 in while earning an honorable mention for the Big West All-Conference team.

The group will be joined by Nolan McConnell who was named Golden Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year in 2016, the first LBSU men's water polo player to receive the honor.

McConnell is making sixth appearance since 2013 at the international level after competing with the USA Men's Senior National Team that took silver at the FINA Intercontinental Tournament in April.

The USA team will open its tournament play against Japan August 18 at 2 a.m. PST. For more coverage follow USAWaterPolo.org.

Head Coach Gavin Arroyo will also be representing LSBU as the head coach of the USA Water Polo Men's Junior National Team. The team will be competing in the FINA Junior World Championship in Belgrade, Serbia August 5-13.
