Men's Water Polo Announces 2013 Schedule
June 5, 2013
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Head Coach Gavin Arroyo announced the 2013 schedule for the upcoming men's water polo season Wednesday afternoon. The 49ers finished last season fifth in the national polls thanks in part to their 24-8 run, good second-best in program history, and fifth-place finish at the MPSF Tournament.
The tournament schedule will remain fairly similar to that of 2012 with the exception of the UCI Mini Tournament. The Beach will host a mini tournament of its own and will open the 2013 season against the two-time defending CCCAA Champions in Golden West College and an opponent to be determined at a later time.
LBSU will also play host to Princeton this year for one of its non-conference single matches replacing Navy. The Tigers finished last season 15th in the national polls with a 17-12 overall record and 5-3 record in the CWPA Southern Division.
This year's NorCal Tournament will be held at the Spieker Aquatics Complex and hosted by Cal, Sept. 21-22. The SoCal Tournament will be much closer this year for the 49er faithful as UC Irvine plays host to the annual tournament at the Anteater Aquatics Complex on the weekend of October 12-13.
