49ers Roll To 12-10 Win At No. 15 Loyola Marymount

Los Angeles, Calif. - Long Beach State rallied from a first quarter deficit on the road at Loyola Marymount to take lead into the break and held on for a 12-10 win Thursday night in the team's final non-conference game.
Zacchary Kappos got the 49ers on the board to start the game, but tied at 3-3, Emanuel Di Stasio gave the Lions a 4-3 lead in the first quarter. Long Beach State was able to tie the game with the first of Carter Taylor's four goals, and then Long Beach State would open up a 7-4 lead, scoring four unanswered before Loyola Marymount recovered with the final score of the period.
In the third period, Long Beach State again opened a three goal lead, and while the Lions scored with 3:06 to play to cut the Long Beach State lead to one goal, Taylor again had an answer, scoring on the extra man with 2:33 to play to regain a two-goal edge which would last through the end of the contest.
Both teams picked up three goals in the final period as Long Beach State held on to defeat the Lions 12-10, as goaltender Pavo Ljepopio made three saves in the fourth quarter.
Long Beach State makes its return to MPSF play this Sunday, when the 49ers travel to No. 2 USC. That game is scheduled to begin at Noon.
