No. 7 Long Beach State Falls To No. 2 UCLA

Los Angeles, Calif. — In a hard-fought battle against No. 2 UCLA, Long Beach State fell to the Bruins 8-6 Saturday night.

In the first quarter UCLA jumped out to a 2-1 lead. Senior Jacob Fujioka scored the Beach’s lone goal on a 6-on-5 opportunity.

From there, the No. 7 Beach (9-9, 0-2) continued to fight as redshirt sophomore Austin Stewart added a goal on a counter attack and sophomore Nemanja Bakic scored from the perimeter.

Heading into halftime, LBSU trailed 4-3. To start the third quarter, the Beach only allowed one goal, but trailed 5-4 heading into the fourth quarter.

Junior Chandler Kaltenbach scored LBSU’s lone goal in the third quarter.

In the final quarter, Bakic scored his second goal while senior Duncan Lynde scored on a 6-on-5 opportunity.

UCLA (15-1) pulled away scoring three goals in the final quarter to take the win.
