No. 6 Long Beach State Falls In MPSF Fifth-Place Game

In another hard-fought game, No. 6 Long Beach State fell to No. 5 Pacific, 13-10 in the fifth-place game of the MPSF Invitational.

Pacific (11-2) jumped ahead early taking a 6-4 lead after the first quarter. Duncan Lynde scored two goals, while Austin Stevenson and Jacob Fujioka scored one goal each.

LBSU (9-5) tightened its defense in the second quarter only allowing three goals, but Pacific led 9-6 at halftime. Nemanja Bakic scored one goals, while Lynde scored once to bring is total to three.

In the third quarter, Austin Stewart scored his first goal, but Pacific scored one to make it 10-7 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Beach added three goals in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as Pacific matched the three to end the game.

Junior Thomas Freeman and freshman Marwan Darwish split time in goal with Freeman collecting three saves while Darwish had five.

The Beach will face Pacific for the third time this season, Saturday at 7 p.m. when LBSU hosts the Tigers to open Golden Coast Conference play.
