Dan Matulis scored 16 goals to help the 49ers go 4-0 at the Inland Empire Classic this weekend.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Dan Matulis and Spencer White combined for 18 goals to lead Long Beach State past Occidental 22-7 and Air Force 15-10 at the Inland Empire Tournament on Sunday. The 49ers finished the two-day tournament with a 4-0 record.

Game 1: LBSU 22, Occidental 7

Eleven different players scored to lead Long Beach State past Occidental 22-7. The 22 goals tied for the fifth most in school history.

White scored seven goals in the game, tying for the second most all-time in a game at Long Beach State. Three of White's goals came in a three-minute span in the first quarter. Matulis added five goals, while Will Mathison chipped in two goals.

Freshman Derek Anderson got his first start of the season and finished with five saves playing the first half. Sinan Karatay finished with four saves in the second half for the 49ers.

Game 2: LBSU 15, Air Force 10

Matulis scored five goals to lead all scorers as the 49ers beat Air Force to wrap up the tournament. Brian Schiefer and Carter Taylor had three goals each, while Dimitrios Lappas chipped in two goals.

Balint Meszaros collected a season-high 16 saves for the 49ers.

LBSU (6-0) travels to Stanford next weekend for the NorCal Tournament, where the 49ers will open with Pepperdine Saturday at 9:25 a.m.
