Men's Water Polo Remains Unbeaten With 11-7 Win Over UC Davis

La Jolla, Calif. - Long Beach State stormed off to a big lead and never looked back, as the 49ers stayed unbeaten in 2013 with an 11-7 victory over UC Davis. Nolan McConnell scored two first quarter goals on the way to tying a season high with four on the day.
Tied at 2-2 after the first four minutes in the first quarter, Long Beach State (3-0) picked up back-to-back goals from McConnell to take a 4-2 lead, and Zacchary Kappos tacked on one more with 58 seconds to play to push the 49ers ahead 5-2 after one period.
The 49ers continued to increase their lead over UC Davis (2-1) in the second quarter, scoring a pair of goals after ceding one to the Aggies. Up 7-3 at halftime, Long Beach State continued to push with three more goals in the third quarter to take a 10-4 lead after three quarters, and cruised through the fourth quarter for an 11-7 victory.
Junior Milos Vrzic added a three goals, while Kappos finished with two as three 49ers had multi-goal games.
The 49ers close out the Triton Invitational with one more match this afternoon, facing No. 11 Loyola Marymount at 3 p.m.
