July 10, 2017

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State had three players represent the United States internationally this summer, as Kyle Ensing and Josh Tuaniga competed in the U21 World Championships while TJ DeFalco was named to the senior USA men’s roster for the FIVB World League.

DeFalco, the reigning AVCA Player of the Year, was selected for the USA Men’s National Team Roster that is competing in the FIVB World League. DeFalco was one of 17 players chosen for the roster competing in the month-long competition, held from June 2 through July 9. The United States played their initial group pool play matches in France and in Poland, and then made the move to the finals site of Curtiba, Brazil.

There, the United States advanced to the semifinals, and ultimately finished in fourth place in the competition. DeFalco was joined by another former 49er at the World League, as Dustin Watten was also selected for the USA roster as a libero.

Josh Tuaniga and Kyle Ensing also earned international spots over the summer, competing in the FIVB U21 World Championships in the Czech Rebublic. Tuaniga captained the American squad while Ensing was one of the team’s primary offensive weapons throughout the tournament, in which the USA ultimately finished in 14th place.

All three players are set to enter their junior seasons during the 2017-18 campaign at Long Beach State.
