June 6, 2013
LONG BEACH - Former Long Beach State All-Americans David Lee and Paul Lotman will continue to represent the United States as they were named to the 12-man roster for the 2013 FIVB World League. The U.S. has competed in World League 15 times since the start of the competition in 1990.
Both Lee and Lotman helped the United States to a silver medal at the World League Finals last year and were members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team that advanced to the knockout round in London. Lee was also on the 2008 squad that won a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics and the World League.
The FIVB World League is an annual international competition that features 18 teams competing in pool play format. Six teams will then advance to the World League Final Round, which will be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina (July 17-21). The U.S. was unable to qualify as it finished fifth in Pool A with a 4-6 record.
