Two 49ers Earn MPSF Men's Volleyball All-Academic Honors

LONG BEACH - Senior Colten Echave and redshirt junior Ian Satterfield have been named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Volleyball All-Academic Team the conference office announced Thursday.
This is the third career all-academic award for Satterfield and second for Echave.
Echave, a 6-foot-7 middle blocker, led the 49ers and ranked among the top-10 in the MPSF with a .416 hitting percentage. The Ladera Ranch native was also second on the team with 0.95 blocks per set and was third among LBSU starters with 1.58 kills per set. Echave had a season-high 10 kills on three occasions, including in a 3-2 MPSF Tournament semifinal win over UC Irvine. He was an All-MPSF honorable mention selection and is graduating with a degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in fitness.
Satterfield started the last eight matches of the season at opposite, helping the 49ers to a strong finish where they put together a seven-match win streak before falling to No. 1 BYU in the MPSF Finals. During that stretch, he reached double-figure kills six times, including a career-high 16 at Stanford. On the year, the Manhattan Beach native averaged 1.47 kills, 0.92 digs and 0.45 blocks per set. Satterfield is majoring in marketing.
To be eligible for the MPSF All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year at their institution and must have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's competition.
