Men's Volleyball Set to Host Randy Sandefur Memorial Golf Tournament on Feb. 3
Feb. 2, 2014
LONG BEACH - The growth of a national power never stops and it takes focus on and off the court to build a champion.
On Monday, Feb. 3, the Long Beach State men's volleyball program will take to the links and host the inaugural Randy Sandefur Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit its operational budget. The tournament will be open to the public and played at private Seacliff Country Club in Huntington Beach with check-in at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon.
Fueling California and The Small Café (Naples Island) are the tournament's title sponsors, leading a bevy of community support around the event. Single golfer spots are $150 each and foursomes are $600 each. Proceeds benefit the men's volleyball program.
Golfers will be greeted by a host of 49er Olympic athletes, quality local food and drinks, along with the coaching staff and student-athletes of the men's volleyball program.
The 49ers have a rich Olympic and professional tradition that has taken former student-athletes all over the globe to continue the growth of the program. Most recently, head coach Alan Knipe led Team USA, whose roster was sprinkled with LBSU graduates, in the London Olympics (2012).
