Long Beach State Dominant in 3-0 Win at UC San Diego

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The fourth-ranked Long Beach State men's volleyball team took care of business Thursday night, defeating unranked UC San Diego, 25-11, 25-14, 25-15, in 71 minutes at RIMAC Arena.
The Beach established a rally scoring era school record with a .582 attack percentage. Senior Ian Satterfield led the way, hitting a career-high .786 with 11 kills and no errors on 14 swings. Senior Taylor Crabb was also errorless, while recording a match-best 13 kills (.542).
Senior Connor Olbright directed the offense with 32 assists. He added 11 digs for his fifth double-double of the year.
LBSU (16-6, 13-6 MPSF) raced out to a 10-4 advantage in the first set. The 49ers continued to roll from there, going on a 14-6 run to take set point at 24-10. After UCSD sided out, a Triton service error gave the visitors the 25-11 win.
Long Beach State did not commit an error in the opening set as it registered an impressive .706 (12-0-17) hitting percentage.
LBSU broke open an early tie in set two with four unanswered to pull ahead, 6-2. UC San Diego was able to close the gap to two, but The Beach came back with a 10-4 spurt to go on top, 17-9. The 49ers cruised the rest of the way with a Crabb kill ending it at 25-14.
UCSD (2-20, 1-19 MPSF) took its only lead of the night at 1-0 in the third frame before Long Beach State reeled off four-straight points. LBSU stayed out front and went up by as many as 13 en route to the 25-15 victory.
Mike Brunsting paced UC San Diego with 12 kills. The Tritons hit just .103 on the night.
Long Beach State is back in action on Friday, March 28, when it closes out a four-match road stretch at No. 8 UC Irvine. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
