Nov. 9, 2017

LONG BEACH - Long Beach State head men's golf coach Michael Wilson has announced the signing of Tyler Schafer to National Letters of Intent.

"We are very excited to have a bright young player from our very own city join the Beach," Wilson said. "Tyler is an intense competitor and homegrown standout who will be a tremendous addition to our roster."

Schafer will join the Beach in the Fall of 2018. Schafer comes to LBSU from nearby Long Beach Wilson High School, where he helped the Bruins to back-to-back Moore League titles this past season. Schafer posted third-place finishes this year at the Callaway Golf Junior Championship AJGA and at the River Ridge Toyota Tour Cup (TTC). He also tied for third at the La Quinta TTC, fourth at the Enagic AJGA and a top-five finish at the Brookside Publinks.

In 2016, Schafer captured first-place at the College Showcase TTC and placed second at the Desert Princess TTC and Arroyo Trabuco TTC.
