Men's Golf travels to Virginia for VCU Shootout

The Long Beach State men's golf team travels to the east coast for their second tournament of the fall season, taking part in the VCU Shootout hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,955-yard Hermitage Country Club Manakin Course in Manakin-Sabot, Va. First and second round play is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 24, followed by final round action concluding on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 5:45 a.m. (PST). LBSU will be among a 12-team field that features East Carolina, George Mason, Iowa State, James Madison, Maryland, Richmond, UNC Greensboro, Old Dominion, Virginia Tech and Wichita State.

The 49ers are coming off from their season-opening tournament last week at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa. Senior Philip Chian was the top player for the 49ers tying for 37th place with a 10-over 226. LBSU tied for 11th with Louisiana-Lafayette and San Jose State at 39-over 903.

Freshmen Daniel Chian (younger brother of Philip Chian) and Kevin Lee made their collegiate debut at last week's Golfweek Conference Challenge. Daniel Chian tied for 41st with sophomore JJ Holen at 11-over 227 and Lee tied for 57th at 16-over 232.
