Men's Golf opens 2012-13 season at Golfweek Conference Challenge

2012-13 LONG BEACH STATE MEN'S GOLF
The Long Beach State men's golf team opens the 2012-13 season at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa, hosted by the University of Iowa.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Sunday, with opening round action teeing off at 7:50 a.m. (PST) from the No. 1 tee as the 49ers will be paired with tournament host Iowa and San Francisco.
Monday's second round will have tee times from 7 a.m. - 9:20 a.m. (PST) from the first and 10th tees, and Tuesday's final round will be a shotgun start at 6:30 a.m. (PST). All three rounds can be followed on Golfstat.com.
All three days will be played at the par-72, 7,360-yard Spirit Hollow Golf Course, as Spirit Hollow was ranked the top course in Iowa in 2012.
Seniors Philip Chian and Raymond Ho, sophomore JJ Holen and freshman Daniel Chian and Kevin Lee will represent the 49ers as they go up against 14 other teams that features Ball State, Campbell, Central Arkansas, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville State, Kansas, Missouri, San Francisco, San Jose State, Tulsa, Wake Forest and Xavier.
LBSU is coming off a historic season last year as the 49ers won a record five tournament titles, two individual medalists and an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The 49ers were also represented at the NCAA Championship in Pacific Palisades as Philip Chian advanced from the Athens Regional in Georgia finishing as the top individual scorer on a non-qualifying team to earn the regional's lone individual berth.
