Men's Golf Receives Big West Conference Sportsmanship Award

The 49er men's golf team received the Big West Conference Sportsmanship Award for the third consecutive year.

IRVINE, Calif. - Long Beach State was named Big West Conference Spring Sportsmanship for men's golf the league office announced on Tuesday.

This is the third consecutive year the 49er men's golf team has received the award from the Big West.

This year, LBSU captured three tournament titles as the 49ers won the 17th Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club and defended their championship at the Folino Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Club and the 33rd Anteater Invitational in Laguna Beach.

Also, Daniel Chian was named Big West Freshman of the Year as this is the second straight year that a 49er has been selected for the award and the third time in five years a freshman golfer from LBSU has won the honor.

The Sportsmanship Award is voted upon by the respective student-athletes in each of the Big West's 16 championship sports. Each participating student-athlete selects the school that demonstrates excellent conduct in competition and is most deserving of the award.
