LBSU Tied For Fifth After Two Rounds In Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. - After two rounds of play at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, the Long Beach State men's golf team recorded a 289 on Friday afternoon to tie for fifth place at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

LBSU fell one spots in the team standings after posting an opening round score of 283.  The Beach has a two-day score of 4-under-par 572.

No. 22 Santa Clara continues to lead the field of 20 teams at 14-under 562, as the Broncos hold a three-shot lead over No. 29 BYU at 11-under.

Andres Gonzalez was the top player for the Beach, shooting a second round 72 to tie for 12th with a 3-under 141.

Joe Fryer and Nick Cantlay are tied for 21st at 1-under 143.  Fryer shot a 74 to fall 13 spots in the standings, while Cantlay posted a 71 to move up 13 positions.

Patrick Pockels turned in a 72 to tie for 38th at 1-over and Connor Nelson shot a 75 to tie for 88th at 8-over.

Alex Lee of Fresno State leads the field of 111 players at 9-under 135.

Final round play concludes on Saturday with LBSU teeing off at 8:30 a.m. (PT) and will be paired with South Dakota, Denver and St. Mary's.
