LBSU Tied For Fourth After Day One At Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Long Beach State men's golf team completed day one of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational tied for fourth at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

LBSU posted an opening round score of 5-under-par 283, tying with Grand Canyon and Nevada.

Twenty-second ranked Santa Clara leads the field of 20 teams at 9-under 279, as the Broncos hold a two-shot lead over No. 29 BYU (-7) in second and three shots over Denver (-6) in third.

Juniors Joe Fryer and Andres Gonzalez were the top players for the Beach, firing a 3-under 69 to tie for eighth.  Fryer recorded three birdies and one eagle, while Gonzalez collected five birdies and 11 pars.

Senior Nick Cantlay tied for 34th after shooting a 72, while junior Patrick Pockels shot a 73 to tie for 44th and freshman Connor Nelson carded a 77 to tie for 95th.

Filip Lundell of Grand Canyon leads the field of 111 players with a 7-under 65, holding a three shot lead over six players tied for second.
