Daniel Chian ties for 12th place at Bill Cullum Invitational
Oct. 23, 2012 SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Long Beach State freshman Daniel Chian shot a 72 in the final round of the Bill Cullum Invitational to tie for 12th place at Wood Ranch Golf Club. Chian finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with an even-216 after shooting earlier rounds of 74 and 70. Chian recorded six birdies and eight pars, while making two bogeys and two double-bogeys. LBSU turned in their best score of the tournament with a 295 after completing the second round on Tuesday morning with a 302 after play was suspended on Monday due to darkness. The 49ers placed 12th at 33-over 897, finishing two shots ahead of tournament host Cal State Northridge (+35) in 13th. San Diego captured the team title with a 14-under 850, winning by nine shots over Arizona State (-5) in second and 16 strokes over Washington State (+2) in third. Sophomore J.J. Holen carded a low 72 to move up in the standings from 40th to tie for 23rd at 6-over 222. Freshman Kevin Lee shot a 76 to tie for 57th at 13-over, while seniors Philip Chian recorded a 75 to tie for 74th at 16-over and Raymond Ho recorded a 79 to tie for 88th at 22-over. Jon Rahm Rodriguez of Arizona State won individual medalist with a 12-under 204. LBSU closed out the fall season at the Bill Cullum Invitational and will return to action, Feb. 16-18, at the Folino Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Club in the City of Industry.
