Kevin Lee Tied For Sixth Place At Saint Mary's Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. - Long Beach State sophomore Kevin Lee fired a career-low 66 in Monday's second round of the Saint Mary's Invitational to tie for sixth place at 1-under-par 143.
LBSU is currently in eighth with a two-round score of 17-over 593. The 49ers posted an opening round score of 305 to finish in 13th and then came roaring back with a 17-shot improvement in the second round with a 288.
The first two rounds were contested over two courses as the 49ers played the first 18-holes on the par-72, 7,104-yard Bayonet Course and later moved onto the par-72, 7,024-yard Blackhorse Course for the second round.
California leads the field of 19 teams at 6-under 570 as the Golden Bears holds a commanding 18-shot lead over tournament host Saint Mary's (+12) in second and 19-stroke lead over San Francisco and St. John's (+13) tied for third.
Lee was the top player for the 49ers after closing out the first day of the tournament. The La Palma native carded an opening round score of 77 with three birdies, four bogeys and two-double bogeys to tie for 55th. In the second round, Lee came back with a vengeance posting an eagle, six birdies and just two bogeys for a 66.
Junior JJ Holen is tied for 23rd at 4-over 148 after jumping in the standings from 76th in the first round after carding a 79. Holen's scorecard from the first 18 holes had just four bogeys and one-double bogey. Holen came back in the second round firing a career-low 69 that was highlighted by an eagle, three birdies and just two bogeys.
Sophomore Daniel Chian is tied for 67th at 10-over after posting rounds of 74 and 80.
A pair of freshman made their collegiate debuts for the 49ers, as Andrew Stanfield is tied for 49th at 8-over after shooting a 76 for both rounds and Agostino Milazzo is tied for 77th at 11-over with rounds of 78 and 77.
Michael Weaver of California and Grant Forrest of San Diego are tied on top of the leaderboard at 4-under 140 as both players holds a two-shot lead over three players tied for third.
Final round action concludes on Tuesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on the Bayonet Course. LBSU will be paired with Oregon, San Diego and Florida Gulf Coast. Live play can be followed on Golfstat.com.
