49ers ties for 11th place at Golfweek Conference Challenge
Sept. 18, 2012 BURLINGTON, Iowa - Long Beach State recorded a 307 in Tuesday's final round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa, tying for 11th place. LBSU finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 39-over par 903, tying with Louisiana-Lafayette and San Jose State. Missouri captured the team title with a 7-under 857, finishing eight strokes ahead of second-place Wake Forest (+1) and 10 shots ahead of third-place Tulsa (+3). Senior Philip Chian was the top player for the 49ers, tying for 37th at 10-over 226. Chian carded a final round 79, recording just one birdie for the day, while collecting six bogeys and one double-bogey. Sophomore JJ Holen and freshman Daniel Chian finished just one stroke behind, tying for 41st at 11-over. Holen shot a 78 with two birdies, while Chian closed with a 73 with three birdies. Senior Raymond Ho (+13) tied for 47th and freshman Kevin Lee (+16) tied for 57th. Jace Long of Missouri won individual medalists by two shots with a 9-under 207. LBSU travels to Manakin-Sabort, Virginia, for the VCU Shootout, Sept. 24-25, at the Hermitage Country Club.
