Gonzalez Tied For 53rd After One Round At NCAA Stanford Regional
Second round scheduled for Tuesday at Stanford Golf Course
STANFORD, Calif. - Long Beach State sophomore Andres Gonzalez shot a five-over-par 75 in Monday's opening round of the NCAA Stanford Regional, tying for 53rd place at Stanford Golf Course.
Gonzalez is among 10 players competing as individuals, along with 13 teams at the Stanford Regional. The native from Mexico City, Mexico, recorded five bogeys and 13 pars for the round.
Maverick McNealy of Stanford and Brad Dalke of Oklahoma sits on top of the leaderboard of 75 players at five-under 65. Both golfers hold a two-stroke lead over four players tied for third.
Regional host Stanford leads the field of 13 teams at nine-under 271, as the No. 4 Cardinal holds a six-shot lead over No. 9 Baylor (-3) in second and seven strokes over No. 45 BYU (-2) in third.
Second round play is scheduled for Tuesday morning with Gonzalez teeing off at 10:31 a.m. (PT) from the 10th tee.
