Men's Golf Sits In Fourth Place Following Day One of Big West Championship

INDUSTRY HILLS, Calif. - Following the first round of action at the Big West Championship, Long Beach State currently sits in fourth place. Collectively, the Beach shot a 289, one-over par and are seven strokes behind tournament leader Cal State Fullerton.

Long Beach State collected a total of 16 birdies in their first round of action at Industry Hills Golf Course. The Beach saw two of its golfers finish round one under par and one golfer finished even.

Teammates Nick Cantlay and Hunter Reed both shot a 71, one-under par to finish the first day of the Big West Championship tied for seventh place. Reed, who sat one-over par heading into his final three holes, carded birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to finish out his round.

Niels Andersen is currently tied for 13th place after finishing even on the day. Andersen started the tournament on a strong note, collecting two birdies through his first three holes.

Joe Fryer is tied for 27th place after carding a 75, three-over par in his first round. Patrick Pockels is tied for 30th place following his 76, four-over par on day one.

The second day of the Big West Championship is set to begin Monday, April 30, at 8:00 a.m. The Beach will be paired up with UC Riverside and UC Davis in round two. Live scoring of the event can be found at
