MEADOW VISTA, Calif. - Long Beach State recorded a 9-over par 297 in the opening round of the 2nd Annual Winchester Classic at the Winchester Golf Course to finish in sixth place.

UC Santa Barbara (-1) leads the field of 11 teams by two shots over tournament host UC Davis (+1) in second and three strokes over Cal State Fullerton (+2).

Senior Philip Chian was the top player for the 49ers, shooting an even-72 to tie for 10th, followed by sophomore JJ Holen and freshman Kevin Lee tied for 17th with a 74.

Senior Raymond Ho is tied for 35th after shooting a 77, followed by freshman Daniel Chian two shots behind with a 79, tying for 43rd.

Bret Silvernail of UC Santa Barbara sits on top of the leaderboard of 58 players with a 3-under 69, holding a one-shot lead over four players tied for second.

Second round action continues on Saturday with the 49ers teeing off at 11:50 a.m. from the first tee. LBSU will be paired with Nevada and Oklahoma Christian.
