Niners Finish In 11th Place At Don Puckette NIT
March 17, 2013 TUCSON, Ariz. - Long Beach State recorded a team high 298 in the final round of the Don Puckette National Invitational Tournament to finish in 11th place at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club. LBSU completed the two-day tournament with a 54-hole score at 21-over 885. Fifth-ranked New Mexico(-20) captured the team title by one shot over No. 18 TCU (-19) in second and eight shots over No. 13 Oklahoma State (-19) in third. Tournament host Arizona placed seventh with an even 864. Freshman Kevin Lee carded a final round score of 74 to finish at 2-under 218 to tie for 29th. Lee posted two birdies for the round after scoring his first ace in the opening round on the par-3 17th. Sophomore JJ Holen finished second for the 49ers after recording a 76 to at 6-over to tie for 47th. Senior Raymond Ho finished one stroke behind, shooting a 75 to tie for 51st at 7-over. For the third consecutive round, senior Philip Chian (+9) recorded a 75 to move up the leaderboard from 62nd to tie for 58th, while younger brother Daniel Chian (+13) recorded his best round of the tournament with a 74 to move up six spots to tie for 73rd. Julien Brun (-8) of TCU won individual medalist by one stroke over Ben Crancer of Texas A&M. LBSU returns to action Mar. 23-24, taking part in the Anteater Invitational hosted by UC Irvine at Shady Canyon Golf Club in Irvine.
