Niners Complete Day Two at Bandon Dunes Championship

BANDON, Ore. - The Long Beach State men's golf team recorded a 298 in Saturday's second round of the Bandon Dunes Championship to tie for 15th place.
Despite improving by four shots from Friday's opening round, it wasn't enough for the 49ers to move up the standings. LBSU is currently tied with Northern Colorado with a 36-hole score of 29-over par 605.
Colorado (+1) leads the field of 18 teams by six shots over second-place San Jose State (+7) and seven strokes over Oregon (+8) in third. Tournament host Gonzaga is 17th and trails LBSU by nine shots.
For the second straight round, senior Raymond Ho was the top player for the 49ers, posting a 1-under 71 to move up the standings to tie for 19th. Ho's scorecard was highlighted by a bogey-free front-nine that included two birdies. On the back side, Ho collected four pars, two birdies and three bogeys.
Freshman Kevin Lee shot a 73 to tie for 33rd at 5-over 149, while sophomore JJ Holen carded a 77 to tie for 71st at 11-over.
Freshman Daniel Chian (+12) recorded a 77 to tie for 76th, while older brother Philip (+14) shot an 81 to tie for 84th.
Byron Meth of Pacific sits on top of the leaderboard at 4-under 140, holding a one-shot lead over Troix Tonkham of Fresno State.
Final round play concludes on Sunday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. LBSU will be paired with Gonzaga and Santa Clara. Live play will be available on Golfstat.com.
