Long Beach State Finishes Round One Atop Leaderboard At Sacramento State Invitational

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Long Beach State Men’s Golf currently sits at first place following two solid rounds of play at the Sacramento State invitational. Long Beach State came out firing on all cylinders during day one competition, shooting 293 and 286 while finishing three-over par. Long Beach State sat atop the leaderboard after the first round and continued to lead through the second. LBSU saw three of its athletes complete round two under par.

Senior Nick Cantlay had a tremendous day finishing under par in both of his rounds. After shooting one-under par in the first round, Cantlay followed it up by shooting two-under in the second while sinking six birdies collectively. He is currently tied for first place at three-under after day one.

Juniors Joe Fryer and Niels Andersen also put on strong showings for their first day of action. Andersen, who finished five-over par in round one, bounced back and finished the day with a solid card. Andersen sank five birdies and ended the round two-under par. Fryer, who finished even in his first round, closed out the day one-under par and tied for fourth place.
