Holen, Lee Tied For 10th At 18th Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic

LONG BEACH - After two rounds of play at the 18th Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic, the Long Beach State men's golf team is in seventh place after recording an 8-over-par 568 at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.
The host 49ers posted a 285 in the opening round to place seventh and returned in the afternoon session with a two-shot improvement for a 283.
Forty-fifth ranked Cal State Fullerton leads the field of 11 teams with a 7-under 553 as the Titans holds a three-stroke lead over Minnesota and UC Santa Barbara tied for second. Arizona (-3) sits in fourth and Wichita State (+5) in fifth.
Junior JJ Holen and sophomore Kevin Lee were the top players for the 49ers as both individuals tied for 10th at 1-under 139. Holen collected two birdies in the opening round for an even-70 to tie for 16th. The Castaic native then shot a 1-under 69 with three birdies in the second round to move up the standings to 10th. Lee posted a 69 for his opening round score that featured four birdies to tie for 10th. The native from La Palma finished the day with a 70 with three birdies and three bogeys.
After posting an opening round score of 79 to tie for 63rd, junior Kevin Techakanokboon made an eight-shot improvement in the second round for a 71 to tie for 53rd.
The Titans' Mark Anguiano sits on top of the leaderboard of 64 players with an 8-under 132, holding a three-shot lead over two players tied for second.
Final round play concludes on Tuesday with LBSU teeing off at 8 a.m. from the 10th tee and will be paired with Cal State Northridge and Denver.
