LBSU remains in second place at Folino Invitational

Senior Raymond is tied for fifth place at the Folino Invitational after two rounds of play.

INDUSTRY, Calif. - The Long Beach State men's golf team recorded a 289 in Monday's second round of the third annual Folino Invitational presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California at Industry Hills Golf Club to remain in second place.

Despite improving by five shots from Sunday's opening round, the 49ers lost some ground on tournament leader UC Irvine as LBSU now trails the Anteaters by six shots. UC Irvine turned in a 287 on Monday for a 36-hole score of 1-over par 577.

Tournament host Cal State Fullerton (+10) sits in third, three strokes behind LBSU while Sacramento State (+17) is in fourth and Loyola Marymount (+25) is in fifth.

Senior Raymond Ho led the way for LBSU with a 75 to tie for fifth with an even-144 on the par-72, 7,211-yard Eisenhower Course. Ho started the round with three consecutive birdies to stay at 3-under for the next seven holes. On the back nine, Ho ran into trouble at the 11th and 12th holes recording a double-bogey and a bogey to make him even. He would go onto collect three more bogeys to finish out the round at 3-over.

Ho trails individual leader Ryan Williams of Sacramento State by five shots as he leads the field of 50 players by two shots.

Freshman Daniel Chian improved by five shots for a 71 to tie for fifth at 1-over, while older brother Philip sits just one stroke behind after firing a 2-under 70 that was highlighted by five birdies.

Freshman Kevin Lee carded a 73 to tie for 13th and sophomore JJ Holen shot an 80 to tie for 38th.

Final round action concludes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. LBSU will be paired with UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton. Live play can be followed on
