Ho Fires Season Low 69 To Tie For First Place At The Folino Invitational

INDUSTRY, Calif. - Long Beach State senior Raymond Ho fired a season low 3-under par 69 in the opening round of the third annual Folino Invitational on Sunday morning at Industry Hills Golf Club to tie first place.
The Cerritos native started the morning off at the par-5, 534-yard No. 1 hole, where he would par the hole and record his first of five birdies on the second. Ho would par the next two holes to stay 1-under through four before recording his first bogey of the day on the par-3 No. 5. He would go onto par the next three holes to stay at even until collecting his second birdie on the ninth hole to close out the front nine at 1-under.
Ho would remain 1-under through the next four holes on the back nine until recording back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes. With three holes remaining, Ho parred the 16th to stay 3-under until running into trouble at No. 17 where he would bogey the hole. Ho closed out the round with a birdie on the par-5 18th to finish at 3-under.
Senior Philip Chian is tied for 21st after shooting a 76 and sophomore JJ Holen shot a 77 to tie for 26th.
LBSU closed out the first day with a 18-hole score of 6-over 294 to finish in second, just four shots behind tournament leader UC Irvine (+2).
The 49ers holds a three stroke lead over third place Sacramento State (+9) and four shots over tournament host Cal State Fullerton (+10) in fourth.
