Zach Vinal enters his second year at Long Beach State as an assistant men's
golf coach after spending the previous four years as a student-athlete at Binghamton
University.
"After competing against Zack for the past four years, I am excited to
have him on our team", said first year men's golf coach Bill Poutre. "He
is a great leader, a fearless competitor and has a tireless work ethic. He will
be a great role model for our student-athletes. Zack's burning desire to win
combined with his experience as a top notch player will have a great impact
on our golf programs."
During his four-year career at Binghamton (Vestal, N.Y.), Vinal was a two-time
Division-I PING All-Region selection and was selected as a Cleveland Golf All-American
Scholar for his accomplishments during his senior year. He holds the career
scoring average in the schools Division-I era as well as the single season scoring
record at Binghamton University. In addition, he had 22 top-10 tournament finishes
during his career. Zack was recognized by the state of New York as the 2008
SUNY Chancellor's Award. The annual award is given to one athlete from the entire
New York state university system for outstanding performance in sport and academics.
Vinal received his bachelor's degree in human development from Binghamton and
plans to pursue a master's degree in sports marketing at LBSU. He is a native
of Syracuse, N.Y. and was named the 2007 Syracuse District Amateur Player of
the Year. In 2006, he was a semifinalist in the New York State Amateur Championship.
