Long Beach, Calif. - Beach Basketball has announced that Travis Hammonds will be joining the program following his enrollment at Long Beach State for the spring semester.
A 6-6 wing player from Richmond, S.C., Hammonds will help immediately shore up the perimeter for Long Beach State that was already getting an additional player, as Tyler Lamb, a Division I transfer from UCLA, also becomes eligible for Long Beach State following the fall semester.
"We are excited to have Travis join our team, however I think we are all very realistic that he is three months behind in every aspect of our program," said head coach Dan Monson. "Therefore, we will have to evaluate his situation daily to see how quickly he can get himself in mental and physical game condition to help us."
Hammonds becomes eligible to play and practice for the 49ers on the first day following the conclusion of the fall semester, December 19. The 49ers also play USC on that date at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Pyramid.
