Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State Men's Basketball has announced that Deontae North has signed a National Letter of Intent, and will join the fall signing class that already includes Justin Bibbins, Jack Williams and Temidayo Yussuf.

"We like Deonte's athleticism, versatility and aggressiveness but most of all, similar to the other three recruits, we value his will to win," noted head coach Dan Monson. "We are excited to welcome him to the Beach family."

As a sophomore at Jordan High School, the 6-4 shooting guard earned first-team All-Moore League honors as well as a second-team Press-Telegram Dream Team nod.

North then transferred to Corona Centennial for his junior season, where the guard averaged a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds per game while leading the Huskies to a 26-3 record. A first-team all-conference selection for the second straight year, North scored a career-high 27 points against Jordan in the first round of the CIF playoffs. He also posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds against Roosevelt High School in the Big 8 championship game.

North is described by ESPN as "a high-energy wing that plays with purpose at both ends. He has a solid looking frame with long arms and he is a tremendous slasher while attacking the rim."

The signing of North finishes off a balanced class that has four players for four different positions on the floor, 1 through 5, and features two guards and two forwards.
