Oct. 11, 2013
Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State Men's Basketball is proud to announce that prior to the team's Black/Gold scrimmage on Saturday, October 19, former 49ers will be taking the floor in an alumni game beginning at 11 a.m. in the Walter Pyramid.
In what is the first alumni game for the program in many years, a large number of 49er greats will hit the floor in what should be an outstanding return to the program for both the players and for the fans.
Former NBA regular and first-team All-Big West Bryon Russell is scheduled to play in the game, as are two other former first-team All-Big West honorees in Ramel Lloyd and Rasul Salahuaddin. Other former All-Big West honorees planning to attend include Mike Atkinson, John Hatten, Juaquin Hawkins, and Terrance O'Kelly. In all, at least 30 former players and coaches are expected to be on hand for the entertaining contest.
Following the conclusion of the alumni game, fans will get their first opportunity to check out the many new faces of the 2013-14 49ers squad, as the current Long Beach State team will engage in their Black/Gold scrimmage beginning around Noon.
