2018-19 LBSU Men's Basketball Schedule

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State men's basketball has released its 2018-19 schedule, which features home games against Oregon State, Pepperdine, Colorado State, and others. The Beach will open the season on Nov. 9 at UCLA, a day before the annual Homecoming Game at Walter Pyramid against Menlo College.

"I'm very excited about this year's schedule, which reflects the new scheduling philosophy that was presented in Coach Monson's restructured contract," said Long Beach State Athletics Director Andy Fee. "Our fans will have more chances to see our team play this season, with the majority of our games being played in Southern California and the surrounding area. There's a lot to be excited about with this year's team and I look forward to joining the rest of LB Nation as we watch them compete this season."

The Beach will be playing just five games outside of California this season, which includes the annual trip to conference foe Hawai'i, as well as the nearby MGM Resorts Main Event tournament in Las Vegas. All told, 30 of the 32 games on this year's schedule will be within a seven-hour drive of Long Beach State's campus, with 21 of those games in the Southern California area. For all road games within driving distance, there will be a pregame reception open to all traveling Beach fans.

"This year's schedule will once again challenge our team in non-conference play, while also keeping us closer to home," said head coach Dan Monson of this year's slate. "We are still playing a national schedule, but have focused on having more games against schools from the Pac-12, Mountain West and West Coast conferences to give our fans more opportunities to come see us play and show their support. We think this is a more balanced schedule that will prepare us for Big West play and put us in the best position to compete for a championship."

LBSU will play some marquee road games early in the season, visiting Arizona State (Nov. 12) and Mississippi State (Nov. 16) as part of the MGM Resorts Main Event tournament, which will continue with a pair of games in Vegas on Nov. 19 and 21. In addition to Homecoming, the Beach will host five more home games against Oregon State (Nov. 25), Southern Utah (Dec. 5), Pepperdine (Dec. 20), Colorado State (Dec. 22), and Bethesda (Jan. 5).

Big West play will get underway on Jan. 12 as the Beach welcome UC Davis to Long Beach. The regular season finale will also be at Walter Pyramid as Long Beach State hosts UC Riverside on Mar. 6.

Season tickets are currently available for purchase or renewal, starting as low as $99 per seat. Fans are encouraged to secure their season tickets early in order to take full advantage of LBSU's 31 Prizes in 31 Days giveaway, which starts this Sunday, July 15.
