49ers Face Baylor on Wednesday Night in First Round of NIT

Long Beach State (19-13) will play at Baylor (18-14) in Waco, Texas on Wednesday at 6:00 pm (PT) in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). The game will be televised live on ESPN2.
Wednesday's game marks the fifth meeting between the two programs, with each team tallying two wins in the all-time series. The teams last met in 1979 with Baylor coming out on top, 87-80. LBSU posted victories in 1977 (85-84) and 1974 (73-68), while the Bears won the first ever meeting in 1963 by a score of 79-67.
The game also marks the 49ers seventh appearance all-time in the NIT. LBSU last played in the tournament in 2011, falling to Washington State 85-74 in the first round. The team's last win at the NIT came in 1990, when the 49ers defeated Arizona State 86-71 in the first round. Long Beach also posted a first round win in 1980 when it defeated Pepperdine 104-87. LBSU has never advanced out of the second round in the program's history.
