Long Beach, Calif. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced its All-District team selections Wednesday, and point guard Mike Caffey earned a Second-Team All-District 9 selection following an outstanding junior campaign.
Caffey, already a first-team All-Big West selection for the second year in a row, earned his first District 9 selection, chosen by voting from member coaches of the NABC from the players of the Big West and West Coast Conferences.
Caffey ranked seventh in the Big West in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game, and additionally led the 49ers in assists and ranked third on the team in rebounding. Caffey was joined by Alan Williams of UC Santa Barbara and Isaac Fotu of Hawai'i as the only Big West players picked for the All-District honor.
Postseason play for Long Beach State begins Thursday, when the 49ers will face Cal State Fullerton in the quarterfinals of the Big West Tournament at the Honda Center beginning at 2:30 p.m.
