Caffey, Lamb and Jennings Earn All-Big West Honors

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State had three players honored as All-Big West selections, with Mike Caffey making the first team, Tyler Lamb garnering second team honors, and Dan Jennings was an Honorable Mention as a senior.
Junior point guard Mike Caffey becomes the 11th two-time First-Team All-Conference selection in Long Beach State history, having also been chosen by the coaches one year ago. Long Beach State's leading scorer, Caffey ranked among the conference's leaders in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals in league play, and helped guide the 49ers to a third-place finish in 2014.
Caffey averaged 16.2 points per game, best on the team, as well as leading the 49ers in both assists (129) and steals (44) along with ranking third in rebounding, with 4.6 rebounds per game.
Junior Tyler Lamb earned second-team All-Big West honors in his first season at Long Beach State. Joining the team just before the start of Big West play, Lamb averaged 14.1 points per game, just behind Caffey in scoring for Long Beach State. Lamb also added 3.9 rebounds per game, was second on the team in assists in conference play, and led the 49ers with 20 steals in Big West action.
Finally, senior Dan Jennings was also recognized as an Honorable Mention All-Big West selection. Jennings was outstanding in conference play, finishing the year with four straight double-doubles and averaged just under a double-double in league play, scoring 9.5 points per game and grabbing 9.0 rebounds per contest. Jennings ranked fourth in the Big West in rebounding, and led the league in field goal percentage, shooting 64.1 percent in conference action.
The All-Big West team was created from voting by the conference's nine coaches and announced Monday. Long Beach State will begin the postseason Thursday, playing Cal State Fullerton in the Big West Tournament quarterfinals at 2:30 p.m. in the Honda Center.
