Long Beach, Calif. - Former men's basketball head coach and Basketball Hall of Famer Jerry Tarkanian will make his return to Long Beach as part of a reunion and celebration to be held on January 24 and 25, in conjunction with the men's basketball game with Cal State Northridge on the 25th.

The weekend's activities will begin with a banquet on Friday, January 24th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Boathouse on the Bay, formerly McKenna's in the Long Beach Marina. Long Beach State athletics will be hosting friends and former players with a banquet including food and a no-host bar for all in attendance. On Saturday, the celebration continues with a reception for former players only from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Walter Pyramid, prior to the men's basketball game against Cal State Northridge. Food and drink will be provided courtesy of Long Beach State, and former players attending the event will be allowed to bring up to three guests as well as attend the game for free.

Tarkanian remains Long Beach State basketball's all-time wins leader with 122 victories as the head coach of the 49ers from 1968-69 to 1972-73. During that time, Tarkanian led the 49ers to four NCAA Tournaments, and is owner of all seven of the team's NCAA Tournament wins.

The legendary coach was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
