Long Beach State Rolls Over UC Riverside 77-59 On Senior Night

Long Beach, Calif. - The regular season could hardly have ended in better fashion, as Long Beach State got big performances from Gabe Levin and Deishuan Booker on the way to a 77-59 win over UC Riverside on Senior Night in the Walter Pyramid.

Levin led the way with 17 points while Booker had his third double-double of the season, scoring 16 points with 10 rebounds and four assists. Bryan Alberts and Temidayo Yussuf also both finished in double-figures.

Long Beach State (15-17, 9-7 Big West) got out in front early, and never trailed in the contest. Leading 5-0 after a Bryan Alberts three, Long Beach State would push the lead to 15 points at 35-20 on a Yussuf layup after 15 minutes, and closed out the half with a 16-point lead at 43-27.

In the second half, UC Riverside (9-21, 4-12 Big West) would never come closer than 14 points, and the seniors would go to work in the second half. Levin had nine points down the stretch, while Barry Ogalue scored four points with three rebounds and Quentin Shropshire grabbed a pair of rebounds and scored his first basket of the season.

Long Beach State scored 22 points off of turnovers and 15 points off of second chances, controlling the glass 41-27 on the night.

Next up, the Beach begins their postseason journey with the quarterfinals of the Big West Tournament. Seeded fifth, Long Beach State will play the fourth seed, Cal State Fullerton at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8. That game will be televised live on Fox Sports West.
