Dirtbags Hosting Fall Ball Game vs. Nevada on Saturday

Oct. 24, 2017

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Dirtbag Nation is encouraged to get an early look at the 2018 Long Beach State baseball team this weekend, as the Dirtbags will host Nevada on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a fall ball game at Blair Field. Admission is free for all fans.

Long Beach State will have several key returners from its Big West championship team a season ago, hoping to gear up for another postseason run. LBSU will be strong up the middle with shortstop Laine Huffman returning for his senior season and junior second baseman Jarren Duran looking to be a three-year starter at the keystone. The offense will also have some veteran bats in senior Luke Rasmussen, redshirt junior Garrett Nelson, and senior outfielders Tristan Mercadel and Joey Sanchez returning, among others.

Junior closer Chris Rivera anchors the bullpen along with a handful of other key contributors from last season, including Zak Baayoun, Eli Villalobos, John Castro and others. The Dirtbags will also bring back starting pitchers in John Sheaks, Tyler Radcliffe, and Matt Fields.

This will also be a great chance to see the incoming Dirtbags recruiting class, which features a mix of highly touted high school products and junior college transfers from all over California.

Fans will be able to get information on 2018 Dirtbags season tickets at the game, and can also purchase them now online or by calling/texting the Long Beach State ticket office at (562) 985-4949.
