Terdoslavich hit .326 with seven home runs and 46 RBI in 2010 for Long Beach State.
July 4, 2013
Long Beach, Calif. - Joey Terdoslavich was called up by the Atlanta Braves on the 4th of July, becoming the 44th former Dirtbag to reach the major leagues. Terdoslavich is also the most recent player to make it to the show, since he was drafted following the 2010 season.
Terdoslavich was hitting .318 with 18 home runs in 85 games at AAA Gwinnett in the International League before getting the nod to join the Braves. The converted outfielder was also selected to represent the Braves in the Futures Game, an event held annually during All-Star weekend which pits top American prospects against those around the world. This year the game will be held at Citi Field in New York, the home of the Mets.
During his time at Long Beach State, Terdoslavich earned honorable mention All-Big West honors at third base after hitting .326 with seven home runs and 46 RBI after transferring from Miami (Fla.). Terdoslavich played one season with the Dirtbags before getting drafted by the Braves in the sixth round of the 2010 MLB Draft.
Long Beach State now has had 13 active players in the MLB during the 2013 season, extending their lead for the most among any collegiate program, an honor that the Dirtbags have held in each of the last three seasons as well as this one. Terdoslavich is the second former player to make their major league debut in 2013, joining Shane Peterson, who was called up by the Oakland A's on April 16 of this year.
