Shane Carle Named Big West Pitcher Of The Week
Carle becomes the second Long Beach State pitcher honored this season.

Long Beach, Calif. - Shane Carle was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week after a dominant performance against UC Riverside on Friday.
Carle, a junior from Santa Cruz, Calif., struck out a career-high 13 UC Riverside batters on the way to a complete game shutout against the Highlanders in a 5-0 victory.
Scattering six hits along the way, Carle became the first Long Beach State pitcher since Jared Hughes in 2006 to strike out 13 batters.
Carle has now thrown two straight complete games after going the distance last Friday against Hawai'i as well. The complete game shutout was the first of the season for the Dirtbags.
Long Beach State has now had two pitchers honored by the conference as the Big West Pitcher of the Week this season. Sophomore Nick Sabo was recognized on April 29 after helping the Dirtbags to a pair of wins against two ranked opponents, throwing 8.2 scoreless innings in two appearances.
