Lucas Tancas Named Big West Player of the Week
The redshirt junior was 7-for-15 last week, including the first two triples of his career.
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Lucas Tancas has been named the Big West Player of the Week after helping the Dirtbags to a 4-0 week against four different opponents. The redshirt junior hit .467 (7/15) in last week’s action, scoring six runs and driving in two more.
Tancas started the week with a pair of triples against No. 3 TCU. Those were the first three-baggers of his career and led to a pair of runs scored on the night. He had a hit in all four games last week to extend his hitting streak to five games, but it was the final game against Grand Canyon that was his best. Tancas had a career-best three hits in the game, scoring a career high three runs in the 9-1 victory.
As the primary left fielder for the Dirtbags this season, Tancas is hitting .300, good for the third-highest batting average on the team. He also leads Long Beach State with two home runs. This is the first Big West Player of the Week award for Tancas and the first for LBSU this season.
The Dirtbags are back in action on Tuesday with a trip down to San Diego State for a 6 p.m. contest with the Aztecs.
