LONG BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State (24-27, 9-9 Big West) saw its six-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday as the Dirtbags were unable to hold onto a 2-0 lead against visiting UC Santa Barbara (23-24-1, 8-10 Big West), suffering a 3-2 loss on Bohl Diamond at Blair Field.

LBSU scored in the third inning and the fifth inning to bring its unanswered runs streak up to 23 in the series, but UCSB responded with a pair of runs in the seventh to tie it and one in the ninth to take the victory. Jarren Duran and Leonard Jones each had a pair of hits on Sunday, with Jones opening the scoring on his RBI double in the third. Steven Rivas delivered an RBI single in the fifth to score Duran and make it a 2-0 LBSU lead.

Each team had double-digit hits in a game that had plenty of baserunners. UCSB left 13 men on base and LBSU stranded 15 over the nine inning contest that took 4 hours and 27 minutes to complete.

Duran added a pair of stolen bases to give him 15 on the season and 47 for his career, which moves him into a four-way tie for fourth place on the career stolen base list at Long Beach State.

Four pitchers worked between 1.2 and 2.2 innings on Sunday to get through nine innings for the Dirtbags, with freshman Adam Seminaris getting the start. He was relieved by Eli Villalobos, who was effective despite issuing two walks. He entered with one out and runners at the corners in the third and inherited a 3-2 count on the batter. Villalobos executed the rare "fake to third, throw to first" pickoff move to nab the runner at first, then recorded a strikeout swinging to get out of trouble.

Long Beach State will return to action next weekend with its final road series of the season at Hawai'i. The regular season will conclude the following weekend, May 24-26, as LBSU hosts Cal State Fullerton for a three-game rivalry series running Thursday through Saturday.
