The Dirtbags had five players with two hits, led by TJ Mittelstaedt who drove in three runs with a single, a double and a sacrifice fly.

Both teams traded runs early. A walk by Brennan Metzger set up the Dirtbags in the first, as the freshman came around to score in Mittelstaedt's first hit. The Waves answered back with a run in the second, but Long Beach State scored two more in the second on a sacrifice fly and a Tre Dennis single to take a 3-1 lead.

The Dirtbags tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, as Jonathan Jones came around to score after a leadoff hit, moving around on a sacrifice, a bunt, and a single.

Long Beach State took over from there, scoring two runs each in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, utilizing sacrifice flies, stolen bases and doubles from Mittelstaedt, Steve Tinoco and Taylor Krick.
