LOS ANGELES -- Luke Rasmussen and Zack Domingues each had two hits as the Long Beach State Dirtbags fell 4-2 at LMU on Tuesday. Ryan Cruz also pitched four-plus solid innings out of the bullpen.

LMU (25-16) took advantage of early Dirtbags miscues to take an early 3-0 lead. The Dirtbags (21-15) gifted Tanner Donnels second base when he reached on an error and moved up on a passed ball. Billy Wilson stroked a two-out double to score the unearned run. Two errors in the third led to two more LMU runs as the Lions went up 3-0.

The Dirtbags loaded the bases in the first off LMU starter Tyler Glomb but weren't able to get a run on the board to start the game. In the fourth, the Dirtbags chipped into the LMU lead as Zack Rivera singled and Rasmussen followed with a triple.

Ryan Cruz relieved Darren McCaughan in fourth and got two quick outs but Austin Miller and Kyle Dozier smacked back-to-back doubles to make it a 4-1 game. The doubles would be the only hiccups in Cruz's outing as he made it into the eighth and retired the last six in a row.

Cruz went four and two-thirds, allowing just the one run on two hits while striking out four. McCaughan went three innings in his third career start and allowed the three unearned runs on four hits.

Rivera and Rasmussen had the Dirtbags in business in the sixth when Rivera walked and Rasmussen doubled to put runners on second and third with one out. Alex Bishop's chopper to second scored Rivera but that would be all the Dirtbags would get in the frame.

Three LMU pitchers combined to hold the Dirtbags scoreless over the last three innings.

The Dirtbags stay on the road this weekend as they head to Cal Poly for a three-game Big West series.
