Long Beach, Calif. - Jeff Yamaguchi had two RBI and hit a triple as Long Beach State completed a series sweep of UC Davis with a 7-2 win on Sunday. The Dirtbags opened an early 5-0 lead in support of David Hill, who earned his second win with five scoreless innings.

Matching their effort in in each of the first two games of the series, the Dirtbags scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an early lead over UC Davis (11-22, 0-9 Big West). Ino Patron was plunked to put the leadoff batter on, and the junior scored on a double from Juan Avila, who was thrown out trying to pick up an additional base. Another hit batter led to another run, as Richard Prigatano stole second after being awarded first, and came all the way around to score on a swinging strike three wild pitch against Eric Hutting.

Long Beach State (16-18, 6-3 Big West) added a third run in the third inning on Yamaguchi's sacrifice fly, and opened up a 5-0 lead after four innings after extra-base hits from Richard Prigatano and Eric Hutting each brought in runs.

David Hill earned his second win of the season with his best all-around start, throwing five innings but allowing no runs and just two hits, striking out one.

The Aggies picked up a pair of runs in the sixth inning, but Ty Provencher had another outstanding relief appearance, limiting the damage. The Dirtbags answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh with a single from Jeff McNeil, Yamaguchi's triple, and a double by Ino Patron.

Landon Hunt and Ryan Millison finished off the game on the mound for the Dirtbags, surrendering one hit over the final two innings as Long Beach State ended the week a perfect 4-0, and concluding the team's third weekend sweep at home this season.

Long Beach State continues Big West play next weekend, traveling to UC Santa Barbara for three games beginning on Friday, April 19.
